For the Love of the Art Museum

I love Art Museum's. I love classic old Art Museum's where art and history meet. The painting become history as there capturing moments in history. It almost feels like a double history lesson. The different trends in art over the years. How shapes, painting strokes, people, environment and feelings have changed over the centuries and decades. It's place to see Warhol's work and be in awe over it, or to wonder why this man is such a big deal. Getting to see a piece from a Cy Twombly's collection that looks a lot like child art but the man has made lots of money and goes down in Art History books. Then there is Van Gogh and Dali and their vision and talent is purely God given, even if you don't like their work you have to respect it. When you look around at all of the work, what art experts consider to be great, and where your eyes actually see talent; it leaves you confused! Being confused is almost one the best parts because you really get to find out what your own taste is and decide for yourself what you like, or if you even like any of it at all.

There is something about being at the Art Museum is calming, and of course quieting. The relaxing tone of the Museum itself; the over hearing of different groups being educated by the Museum staff, the seeing, and feeling what is on the canvas, the paper, the panel, or whatever product is used to showcase an art project. What I love the most, is seeing people appreciate the talent in a way we often forget with technology. Taking the time to learn and be still just for a minute in a life that is often hectic.

I decided to take my daughter to the Museum after an evening at mother's. My mom is also an art lover, and she has amazing prints all over her house. She was watching my daughter one evening and every time someone would put my daughter in seeing distance, of this one picture my mom has one her wall,  she would smile and smile. It was almost like she was flirting with the picture. It was adorable. I thought she might be to young to go the Museum... but after seeing her excitement looking at this picture, I thought "why not"! Since she is only 3 months old; she spent most of her time sleeping. She too found the Museum relaxing but for the first 20 minutes she did get to spend sometime looking at the art! Call me crazy but she may have even enjoyed it!
And YES, you can take non flash photo's in an art Museum. I want to show some things we saw but I'm leaving out most of the paintings, because the Museum is free, go see some ART!!!

Capturing moments of those enjoying art work.

This piece is amazing! It's an this armored shield/ robe is made completely out of dog tags. It's a tribute to those who have fought for us. It was my Mother's FAVORITE!

THE END

NEXT WEEK: I'm currently working the Flea Market Project and I'm almost a couple hours away from a finished painting. I'll be showing what I am working on, what I have finished, and writing about the struggle to get there.
